Our FAQs
Sharirik Activities
HSS NZ conducts various Sharirik activities which include Khel (games), Dand, Yoga, Surya Namaskar and many more physical activities. The participants improve their ability to work as a team, improve their stamina and physical strength by taking part and also by themselves conducting these exercises.
Baudhik Activities
HSS NZ conducts baudhik activities which includes lectures, interactive workshops, discussions, songs(geet) and seminars. These activities enhance intellectual development and help the participants to increase cultural awareness and improve their communication skills. All these activities are mainly focused on improvement of one's mental well-being.
Sangathan Activities
Apart from regular activities, HSS NZ conducts cultural events and Utsavs time to time which are managed and organised by our volunteers. Along with such activities, regular volunteer activities (SEWA) are conducted with a feeling of 'giving back to the community'. All these activities are organised by our volunteers who step up to learn and practice their organisational skills.
Our Vision:

Our Parichay (About Us)
Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh New Zealand (HSS NZ) is a voluntary, non-profit, social,
educational and cultural registered charity organisation. We envision fostering global peace
and harmony by practicing, preserving, and promoting the eternal universal ideals and
values of Hindu Dharma. We encourage maintaining Hindu cultural identity in harmony and
integration with the Aotearoa New Zealand society.
We conduct regular value-based education programs for all ages through its branches
(Shakha) across the nation. We also conduct special events and programs throughout the
year. Some of the examples include service activities, blood donation drives, tree plantation,
river and beach cleaning, temple service, picnics, competitions, leadership training camps,
and engagement with the wider community.
Our weekly Shakha (programs) consists of mainly two types of activities: Sharirak (Physical)
and Baudhik (Intellectual). Physical activities include Khel (games), Yoga, Surya Namaskars,
and Self-defence which enhance stamina, physical strength, discipline and agility. The
intellectual activities made up of Skits, puzzles, debates, workshops, presentations, and
quizzes are designed to polish communication skills, and cultural and societal awareness.
Through our activities and projects, we promote pride in Hindu heritage, discipline, selfconfidence, teamwork, leadership, and the spirit of selfless service to foster a sense of civic duty, responsibility and volunteerism. All these activities are organised by our volunteers
who step up to learn and practice their organisational skills.

OUR CHAPTERS
Shakha literally means ‘branch’ in Sanskrit. People from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds attend these weekly ‘Shakhas’. Shakha is an established tool (tantra) which enables us achieving our vison and mission.
Shakha participation develops transferable skills for professional and personal lives: discipline, integrity, ethics, teamwork, punctuality, confidence, public speaking, leadership, assertiveness and social networking. It is a forum where children, youth and adults come together to undertake physical (sharirak) and intellectual (baudhik) activities in a fun filled and spiritual environment.
